Major Restoration Work for the Heritage of Petit Champlain
As part of the BSI 2024 project, the Coopérative du Quartier Petit Champlain has undertaken a series of restoration works on two of the district’s emblematic buildings:
- The Police Station (44 to 46 boul. Champlain and 59 rue du Petit-Champlain) Maison Patry-Turcot
- The Hotel (38 to 42 boul. Champlain) Édifice Abraham-Joseph
These renovations mark a key milestone and demonstrate the Coopérative’s ongoing commitment to preserving and enhancing its built heritage.
The Police Station
The restoration work on this building helped strengthen its structure and ensure its longevity:
- Refurbishment of the metal roofing
- Restoration of the roof trusses
- Replacement of dormer windows and shutters
- Installation of a lifeline system on the roof
The Hotel
For this building, the restoration focused mainly on:
- Brick repointing to maintain the structural integrity of the wall
- Restoration of lintels and cast-iron brackets, key architectural features
- Consolidation of approximately 300 square feet of masonry, with the installation of 465 anchors to reinforce the structure
Essential Support for an Ambitious Project
The completion of this work was made possible thanks to essential financial support, enabling a total investment of $1,075,000. We extend our sincere thanks to our partners:
- Investissement Québec, which contributed $200,000 through the Programme d’immobilisation en entrepreneuriat collectif (PIEC)
